In order to encourage the people to take timely information and services on family planning, mother-child health and to be sincere in offering quality services to the service provider, from 30th December, 2017 to 4th January, 2018, nationwide family welfare services and publicity weeks was celebrated. The theme of this year's service and publicity week is: "Build a planned family, prevent maternal death".

 

On this occasion, various services and publicity activities have been organized at all union health and family welfare centers, mother and child welfare center and sadar hospital in Bandarban district with the initiative of District Family Planning Department. As part of the campaign, advocacy and press briefing meetings were held with local journalists at district and upazila level. Notice of service and publicity week is printed in print and electronic media. Honorable Chairman of Bandarban Hill District Council, Mr. Kya Swe Hla was present as the Chief Guest at the Advocacy Meeting organized at the district level. Honorable Civil Surgeon of Bandarban Hill District was present as special guest at that meeting.

 

On the first day of the family welfare services and publicity week 30 December '2017,  Honorable Deputy Commissioner of Bandarban Hill District, Mr. Dilip Kumar Banik, Joint Secretary, inaugurated the service and publicity week program. In his speech, he referred to family planning activities as a social movement and said, "Once the family planning was limited to birth control and some primary health services. At present, family planning is not only birth control but also working on making a planned family structure by saving Mother and Child Health." At that time, the officials of family planning department, the officials of the health department and the non-governmental organization of Bandarban Hill District was present.

 

Mr. Md. Ramzan Ali, Joint Secretary, Director (Administration), Department of Family Planning also visited family welfare services and publicity week activities at Thanchi Upazila at 02/01/2011 and at Bandarban mother and child welfare center at 03/01/2008. He expressed his satisfaction in the activities of family welfare and publicity week in Bandarban Hill District.
